What is a DEBIT CARD?

A Debit Card is a pre-paid barter card. It works like a pre-paid telephone calling card.

Why would I buy a Debit Card?

It¡¯s a great way to give your employees, family members, and friends barter dollars to spend without giving them unlimited access to your account. Debit Card holders are only authorized to spend the barter amount issued to them by you.

How does a DEBIT CARD work?
To activate the new Debit Card, you must pay all cash fees due on your account. The ten (10)% cash transaction fee on the total barter amount issued to the Debit Card holder must be prepaid either by the issuer or the recipient of the Debit Card.

After all fees have been paid, BBE will send the recipient a Debit Card with a 5-digit account number.

All BBE Rules, Regulations, Policies, and Procedures apply to Debit Cards. The seller must be notified you are a barter customer. Tax & tip are still due in cash. Debit Card holders DO NOT owe the 10% transaction fee, since cards are prepaid.

EVERY TRANSACTION OF ANY AMOUNT MUST BE AUTHORIZED. Call BBE at (919) 469-5538 from 9 am to 5 pm to get an authorization number for each purchase. After hours, please call our 24-Hour Services line at (919) 469-5548.

BBE is not responsible if a business justifiably refuses to accept Debit Cards. Occasionally sellers go "on hold" and do not take trade for a limited time.

The balance remaining on a Debit Card can easily be obtained by calling (919) 469-5548. Just follow the instructions to check an account balance, using the account number on your card. Debit Card holders will not get a monthly statement.

Debit Cards cannot be redeemed for cash.

Debit Cards have a 6 (six) months expiration period. If your BBE membership has been terminated, your Debit Card will have a ninety (90) day expiration period. Unspent barter remaining on expired Debit Cards will be forfeited by BBE.

How does the new DEBIT CARD holder know where to spend his barter dollars?

Each recipient receives a "Needs & Wants List" with their Debit Card. Please fill this out as instructed and call BBE at the number on the form. Upon request, BBE will add Debit Card holders to our broadcast database so they will receive the weekly broadcast fax & email advertisements from BBE members who are looking for more barter business.

Debit Card holders can also view the active BBE members on the BBE Online Membership Directory. Debit Card holders can also purchase a Barter Times Membership Directory at a special discounted rate of ten ($10.00) barter. Debit Card holders can always call our friendly barter brokers to learn about the great spending opportunities in their area.
